One of the most popular screen westerns ever made, this Academy Award winning classic blends adventure, romance and comedy to tell the true story of the West's most likeable outlaws. No one is quicker than Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) when it comes to get rich quick schemes, and his sidekick Sundance (Robert Redford) is a wizard with a gun. When these two bungling bank and train robbers tire of running from the law, they set out for Bolivia with Sundance's girlfriend (Katharine Ross). Though they can barely speak enough Spanish to communicate 'This is a stick-up', that's only a minor detail to the two nicest "bad-guys" who ever rode the West.

Notes
Trivia: On the first day of shooting, involving the train robbery scenes, 'Katharine Ross' came to the set to watch. There were five cameras, and only four operators, so the DP put her on the extra camera. He showed her how to operate it, and how to move it to get her shot. Director George Roy Hill was furious, but said nothing the whole day. At the end of the day, he banned her from the set except when she was working. (more)

Goofs: Continuity: In the opening sequence when Sundance shoots the gun belt off the card player, the film was cut to make the quick draw appear faster. You can see Butch's image jump across the screen in the background. (more)

Quotes: Butch Cassidy: Boy, you know every time I see Hole-in-the-Wall again, it's like seeing it fresh for the first time. And every time that happens, I keep asking myself the same question: how could I be so damn stupid to keep coming back here? (more)

Awards: Won 4 Oscars. Another 17 wins & 11 nominations (more)
